Description
Welcome to Sweetheart Abbey, an atmospheric and ruined medieval abbey located in South West Scotland. This pencil sketch of the abbey is an ideal way to add a touch of history to any wall. Perfect for those who appreciate medieval architecture or are looking to add a unique piece of art to their collection.
The abbey was founded in 1273 by Lady Devorgilla, wife of John Balliol. After the death of her husband in 1268, she constructed the abbey and dedicated it to their daughter, Joan, also known as ‘The Sweetheart’. The abbey was originally built with local sandstone and was an important religious centre until its dissolution in 1560.
This pencil sketch of Sweetheart Abbey captures the atmosphere of the site just as it looks today; a plant-covered ruin with its high arches reaching skyward. This is the perfect piece of art to commemorate an important part of history in Scotland.
So why not bring a touch of history into your home with this sketch of Sweetheart Abbey?
